The Rohrerstown Fire Company is located in the southern section of East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We serve a metropolitan area just west of the City of Lancaster. The first due of Rohrerstown Fire Company consists of a variety of residential communities, commercial strip malls, industrial parks, assisted living facilities, a health care complex, and multiple story structures. We also provide mutual aid to many departments surrounding our first due covering a vast majority of structures. We currently utilizes two 1995 E-One Engines, a 1986 Mack CF 75 foot rear mount Aerial, a 2002 Ford Expedition (Duty Vehicle), and a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria (Support Vehicle). We will be receiving a new Pierce Dash Tower later this year to replace the Mack.

The company responds to about 750 calls a year, this number is increasing with the growing community we serve along with mutual aid given to other departments. We provide automatic mutual aid to about seven departments with the engine and/or tower with the services ranging from vehicle extrication, fire suppression, and as the Rapid Intervention Team. Training at Rohrerstown is strongly encouraged with company level training being held every Monday, with one Monday being the company meeting. State and National level training is paid for by the company. In addition, the company offers a membership to a local gym after your probationary period.
The live-in program offers individual rooms to 12 members with access to cable internet and digital cable. A bunkroom is available if all 12 rooms are full, that can hold up to six members. There is also a library/study room available if a quiet location is desired for schoolwork. In exchange for free-living accommodations, the company requires that members perform station duties, attend trainings/meetings, and respond to emergency calls.

For those planning to attend a post-secondary educational institute in the area, the live-in program is financially advantageous. The station is a short commute to Millersville University, Franklin & Marshall College, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Lancaster General College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Elizabethtown College, Harrisburg Area Community College (Harrisburg, Lancaster, and Lebanon), York College, Consolidated School of Business, Penn State University (York, and Harrisburg Campus's), Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania of Art & Design, and Reading Area Community College, York Technical Institute, and many others.
Firefighters with previous training and experience will be given first consideration in the live-in program. However, the Rohrerstown Fire Company is dedicated to training individuals with no training and welcomes anyone who is interested in becoming a live-in member. The live-in program was originally created for those students attending post-secondary institutions; however, this program is in no way limited to students. All firefighters and potential firefighters are encouraged to apply.
