Shortly before 2300 hrs Tower 67 was alerted with other units to the 400 block of Eden Rd. for a reported apartment building fire. The Tower was second arriving taking a position on the A/B corner per command. The Tower crew split laddering the building and assisting engine 241’s crew with opening up inside. The Tower remained on scene supplying lighting and manpower unitl 0118 hrs when released by Eden Rd.command.

This morning, Company 67 and area units were alerted to the 1100 block of Raymond Drive in the Albern section of the Township for a house on fire. Engine 671, Tower 67 and Chief 67 (Dommel) staffed with 10 were advised that of a house on fire with a few calls being received. The units from 67 arrived with normal conditions to be greeted by a neighbor, who advises that he believes he has the fire out with his fire extinguisher. The assignment was held to 67, while the crews investigated for any extension. The assignment was complete within 13 minutes. This evening for training, Company 67 met up with Company 75 (Fire Department of Mount Joy) at the training center for some truck company work. The crews from performed multiple scenarios during the evening. We would like to thank the Mountville Fire Company, who was also at the training center for filling the air cylinders for both companies.

This afternoon, Tower 67 was alerted with units from 715 (Mountville) and 76 ( West Hempfield ) to the area of Lemon and Spruce Streets for a house on fire. The engine from 715 arrived with a two story vacant house with a working fire. The Tower arrived and positioned on Main Street due to the tight streets and access to the structure. The exterior crew went to work throwing ground ladders and venting the windows, while the interior crew performed a quick search and opened up the walls for the fire suppression crews. Tower 67 remained on the scene for about 3 hours, assisting Company 715 with overhaul and the fire marshal. Thanks to Company 512 for covering the 67 land, while the Tower operated on the scene.

Just before 4 PM, Tower 67 was alerted to assist Company 211 (Southern Manheim Township) with a building on fire on Lititz Pike. Tower 67 staffed with five, leaving an engine crew behind was advised of a working dumpster fire against the store. Tower 67 arrived just behind City Engine 3 and was directed to side Alpha by Command. The crew from the Tower assisted the crew from Truck 24 on the interior. With the fire being contained to the exterior of the building the assignment was downgraded and 67 cleared in 10 minutes.

Early this morning, Tower 67 was alerted to assist Company 68 (West Lancaster) with a commercial fire alarm on Columbia Avenue. Tower 67 with four arrived with normal conditions and upon closer inspection, found a light smoke condition on the interior of the structure. The assignment was upgraded with Chief 68 special requesting Engine 671 to the assignment. The crew from the Tower started laddering and sent a crew to the roof, while the interior crew forced entry and started investigation with Engine 681. Engine 671 and Chief 67A (Irwin) with five arrived and secured the water supply and sent its crew to side Alpha. With the interior crews found a malfunctioning machine to the source of the smoke, the assignment was downgraded to units from 68, 67, and 66. 67 cleared the scene in 40 minutes.

This afternoon, Tower 67 was special requested to assist Company 65 (Millersville) with a working house fire. Tower 67 and the Chief arrived and assisted the interior crew from 65 with opening up the walls, along with laddering the structure. The crew also assisted with ventilation of the structure, while Rescue Squad 68 provided the RIT for the scene. The crew from Engine 715 assisted with some overhaul. Tower 67 was on scene for over 90 minutes, during this time Company 67 had an engine crew in station.

This afternoon, Tower 67 and other area units were alerted to assist Company 76 (West Hempfield) with an apartment fire in Oak Hollow. Engine 841 arrived with a working fire on the exterior of the structure and made a quick knock of the fire. Tower 67 being the second arriving unit, was directed to check the roof area for extension. Additional units checked the interior of the apartment with no extension found. The tower assisted with removal of the burnt up materials before clearing the assignment. The company also handled 3 other calls for the day; which included a spill control, fire alarm, and a crash.

The afternoon started off with Engine 671 being sent to the 2500 block of Columbia Avenue for a crash with injuries. Engine 671 arrived with a three car crash and found no hazards, but 3 people reporting injuries with only one needing transport. The crew from Engine 671 provided patient care until the arrival of the medic unit. Then just after 4 PM, Company 67 was alerted to a fire alarm at a local nursing home. Engine 671 and Tower 67 were advised while pulling on scene, the police were reporting a fire in the kitchen and the assignment was being upgraded. The crews from 67 found that the kitchen staff was able extinguish the fire in the oven. With no extension, the assignment was downgraded and 67 cleared shortly afterwards. Also during the afternoon, the company responded on an investigation and a fire alarm.

This evening, Company 67 was alerted to Running Pump Road in the area of the railroad tracks for a natural cover fire. The units from 67 arrived and found a working brush fire along the tracks and spreading. Command had the trains stopped along the tracks, so the crews could work to control the fire. Company 67 cleared the scene in about one hour. The company also handled a fire alarm during the day.

This afternoon, as Engine 671 and Tower 67 were arriving at a fire prevention on Harrisburg Pike. The communications center dispatched units from 76, 715, 67, 84, 719 and 75 to Huntington Place in East Hempfield Township for a townhouse on fire. Engine 671, Tower 67 and Chief 67A (Irwin) made the response with eight. Tower 67 was directed to side Alpha and to assist Engine 762, while Engine 671 was directed to grab a secondary water supply. Interior reported that the fire was out and that assignment could be held to one engine. Engine 671 and the Tower returned to the fire prevention and stood-by for about one hour. Earlier in the day, Tower 67 assisted Company 715 with a fire alarm at a nursing home.
