Early this morning at 0530 hours; Engines 671, 681, 661; Truck 67-R; Rescue Squad 41-1 (from Station 84) and 65 were alerted to Madge Drive for a mobile home on fire. Engine 671, Chief 67A (Irwin), and Captain 673 (Nonnemacher) made the response with a total staffing of six with information of a working fire. Engine 671 arrived in the area with a heavy smoke condition and requested the Working Fire Dispatch, which added Engine 653 (from Station 76), Truck 66, Rescue Squad 23, and Squad 715 to the call. Engine 671 arrived with instructions being given to Engine 653 on the split lay and confirming well involvement of a mobile home. The crew from Engine 671 initiated a defensive attack due to the heavy fire conditions and once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews entered and started limited interior attack to extinguish the remaining fire. Exposure lines were placed into service by additional units to protect the surrounding mobile homes. The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes and units going to be working for awhile hooking. Truck 23 was added to the assignment as a cover unit. Company worked on the scene just over 3 hours with Engine 711-2 covering the 67 local, while we were out.
